Christmas Mishap of Yesteryear

One time, when I was a kid, I asked for an official NFL football for Christmas. Later that Christmas season, I saw, under the tree, the unmistakable shape of a wrapped football in a box.

Every night I would sneak out of my room, gently unwrap the football (yes, it was the exact football I had requested), play with it, then carefully re-wrap it.

Come Christmas morning, my parents had labeled all of the gifts and it was time to unwrap. The football had Bryce's name on it. He got it. He got my football.

About a decade later I asked Mom and Dad about it and they casually admitted that they needed to have the exact same number of gifts for the boys and grabbed the football and tossed it in Bryce's pile the night before. He's more athletic anyways, right?

Danielle restored balance to the universe and got me that same official NFL football a couple years ago, granting that childhood wish.

Mom and Dad, I still love you. Merry Christmas.

John, your Mom has threatened to cry over the football story several times now...please don't make her snap while she is at my house!
