Seen It

The other day we rented "Yes Man" with Jim Carrey. I give it an 8 on the pH scale (0=worst movie ever, 7=neutral, 14=holy crap call everyone you know and insist they see this).

It was pretty funny but I liked it the first time when it was called "Along Came Polly."

Taste of Cincinnati

This Memorial Day weekend we went down to Hermania in Cincinnati. Good times.
We went to the street fair, Taste of Cincinnati, where there was a galaxy of every kind food you can think of, all priced between $2 and $5. Which is just my style.

Thanks Hermans!

The Wait...

I just bought a couple books off of amazon this morning that I've been looking at for a while. I checked all the local libraries, found some of the books I wanted checked out and on hold forever at some of the libraries in the city of lansing and decided to go for it. $26 later, I am anxiously waiting for the mail. Maybe early next week?!
The first book is about root cellaring, something i am going to need to know a bit about if i am going to continue this garden obsession and not waste to fruits of this labor. We conveniently are sitting on top of a huge root cellar as we speak. A few tweaks to our michigan basement and it is a very convenient pantry. It was probably intended as such when built in 1909.
The second is a book on growing food year round, and the author lives in my climate zone (5), which is very convenient for me.

The third purchase is a 12' x 7' greenhouse that I found on ebay. $63 plus shipping. Monday is the estimated arrival date. I will be looking for the perfect location in our yard until then, and maybe a bit beyond. Cheryl's greenhouse was just too large a temptation not to mimic. After spilling my seed trays 2 times within five minutes, i realized i needed a greenhouse. If i am going to go through the trouble of seed-saving and heirloom collecting, i better have a way to grow them.
