So I guess you have to ask yourself...are you feeling lucky?

I have decided to take the Michigan State Police class for a concealed weapons permit. -That means I can pack heat.
Why? I don't know.
How many pistols do I have? Zero.

But I think that would be a pretty cool license to have.

Some Stuff

Danielle is converting our upstairs office loft into Juneau's room. Lots of moving and shaking and nesting. It is looking cool. Now there is a little closet area with some tiny clothes hung up. Here, she is taking a well deserved rest and planning her next move.

This is what Willow looks like when you scare her. Its great. A well-timed "BOO!" when she doesn't expect it and she is thrilled.

Here Bear is drawing a find-these-items Marvel Super Heroes poster. He's been on this one for a while.

Can you find (he has a key in the top left):
  • The She-Hulk
  • A Pumpkin
  • A Clock
  • A Guy Getting Punched

The best free firewood ad ever....

I found this ad on lansing's craiglslist...
this guy also has a blog- http://north.geeklair.net/

Holy crap, people, is this wood or WHAT!??!

About 14 2-3' logs, lovingly hand-crafted from some branches of a maple tree that was dropping stuff on my driveway. These logs were cut from a tree that, so far as I know, was not growing over an Indian burial ground. This means that you can rest assured that the wood is not particularly likely to be haunted by the vengeful spirits of dead warriors*!!! Can the big retailers with their fancy designer wood make THAT vague claim? NOT ON YOUR LIFE!

This wood is maple, which means it probably tastes just like delicious syrup. It's perfect for:
- funeral/heretic pyres
- painstakingly carving thousands of disturbing figurines
- ingenious Ewok traps for dispatching Imperial stormtroopers/AT-ST walkers
- unwieldy paperweights
- ballast
- fireplaces, I guess
- miniature or proof-of-concept log cabins
- vampire stakes

Furthermore, this pile of wood is available to you, the consumer, at no cost! That's right - we screw the other guy and pass the savings on to YOU!!!!

But act now - this wood is NATURALLY BIODEGRADABLE and won't last long**!!!! Just email ben@geeklair.net and this sweet, precious wood can be YOURS!

Bowling around the house

The Nelsons had a Wii bowling showdown this evening. Bear is clearly the best Wii bowler between the three of us. Here is some photographic evidence. You can see Bear's gesture of approval there.

In action. And inaction. By the way, that futon there is new. Danielle got it at St. Vincent DePaul last week. It is going to be our summer bed, as our bedroom (which is in the attic) hovers around 150 degrees in the summertime.

Then we tried some specialized games. Danielle absolutely destroyed us in the "picking up spares" challenge. She showed no mercy.

Picto-Clouds

Mom sent this to me (John) today with the caption, "Jesus in Water." Do you see it? I can't really see anything that looks like what I imagine that would look like.

***Update***
Now that I see this picture bigger, there is a statue there. False alarm. No cloud miricles.

Willow's Child Dedication

There was a child dedication at our church today, and Willow went up there with Danielle and Bear and I. The Pasqualis were all there and it went well. Good times.

Then we grilled. Those are baby back ribs with pineapple slices and some Italian sausage.

Here's to you, Moms!
