The Real Deal

Today we went to the annual Yutse's Spring auction, so did the Pasqualis. It is an Amish auction where you can find anything -horses, antique furniture, tools, tractors, bread, peacocks, motorcycles, walnut wood slabs, donuts, stoves, boats, and any random thing you can think of in the world. There were thousands of people there. And lots of them were Amish.

'Who'll give me ten, ten, ten, twenty. Twenty five dollar bill, who'll give me twenty five thirty. Thirty dollar bill.' I can be seen here bidding on a kayak oar. I lost, but it got my heart pumping. Also, I bid (and lost) on a sweet antique drafting table. It was awesome. I got into a bidding war with this dude who was hard core. We went back and forth and when I bid I would do the dramatic pause then cool nod. It was pretty exciting.

Labels like this were everywhere, keeping me informed on the most important merit of anything with moving parts...'works good.'

Then we had lunch at the Shavers'.

My regret is that I lived for almost 30 years before ever going to a knock-out full-on absolutely crazy Amish auction.

That must have been a blast! Did you buy and cool antiques? I love antiques. My mother is a huge antique collector, and when I was younger I thought it was just a bunch of junk, old crap, then I grew up and realized how pretty nice the stuff is. Anyways there is an awesome antique store in Newburyport that I miss. Flukes Finds and Friends. If you ever visit S&L, you must visit. There is also many other cool ones in Nbpt.
