Crap I Like

Danielle, and all three of Danielle's children, have a kink in the rim of one ear that sticks out slightly farther than the rest of the ear, and definitely farther than the same spot on the other ear.

Anyways, I really like it.

And now that I think about it, if Danielle were missing an ear altogether and then all of our kids had that same characteristic, then I suppose I would feel affection for one-earedness.

In any case, I just discovered that there is a name for it: Darwinian Tubercle. You can real all about it here. They call it that because it looks like the leftovers from a monkey ear. But it gets better. Check out this illustration from Wikipedia:

Now when I call our kids my little monkeys, I'll have some biology to back me up. I love you guys!

Charlie also has a monkey ear. It is the left one. When my dad first saw Charlie he said "Whats the matter with his ear" up until that point I had just thought it was super cute but apparently he thought it was a little funky. Monkey ears rule!

I believe my left ear does this... a curl thing. Good to know it is a strong gene. :D
