That Place Got Nelsoned

Today I stayed home with Danielle and the kids because they were not feeling so hot (just a little off, nothing dreadful) and it would be a bummer for Dani to have to manage ill monkeys when she was off-peak herself. And it was a nice day and I was glad I stayed home to help.

Then D was feeling a lot better and thought it would be nice to get out of the house and get a light dinner at a pretty nice place that we like a couple miles away. I was a little surprised but glad the family was feeling more mobile.

We settled in and had just had out meal served when little Nino coughed a little. It wasn't a horrible cough or anything, just a familiar little sputter that made me nervous. I remember thinking that if he were Willow he would have barfed like a fountain right then. But, apparently he is more like Willow than I realized. A few seconds after thinking that, he...unloaded. I didn't think that his little frame could hold that much barf. It was like he was a water balloon filled with oatmeal and someone popped him.

I tried catching what I could at first but it was like trying to contain a tipped barrel of oyster stew with my bear hands. "Oh...my...gosh" could be heard from an unfortunate nearby table.

This all happened in a couple seconds and Danielle didn't miss a beat and said to the waitress, who had just delivered the meal, if we 'could get that in a box.' I've never seen a meal boxed and a check delivered so quickly in my life. Our waitress was really nice about the whole thing. On the way out an understandably flustered Danielle dropped a tub of ranch dressing in the hallway. When it rains it pours.

You know what? In retrospect, it looks like that trip out just wasn't meant to be. That poor place. That poor, poor place.

We were out with Ryan and Ginger at Carrabbas once when Kadence gave that all too familiar cough. I grabbed the bread basket off the table and she filled it with puke. Then I neatly folded the linen napkin over it and told the waitress that she should throw the entire thing away and not venture to try to remove the linen or anything. Slightly embarassing and a great send off for Ryan at his last dinner before moving to Hotlanta. I feel Danielle's pain-had I dropped the ranch dressing I would have started sobbing! I didn't realize Willow had a strong gag reflex-Charlie seems to have inherited that too.

OH MAN!!! This has me cracking up for you guys. I mean, I'm sorry and all but the fact that near by people were affected just gets me. Sorry for your luck... maybe you need a barf bag that will hang on his ears when you go out. Problem solved!

Oh! Sorry! We're sick, too! Amya was puking all day on Monday (ALL day)and I had it yesterday.
Amya does not have a weak stomach though...and never really pukes. So, when it came up the first time, she looked at me horrified and said, "What was THAT?!"
Being sick sucks! Hope you guys are on the mend!.........c.

Oh..oh..doesn't sound fun. But as a more experienced Mama...I would say that going out to dinner on the same day as you all felt "kinda sick" was too soon. But not having to cook is always a tempting thing. Some things you just have to learn the hard way. I hope it is all better now. And Dean, you just wait!!!!

...oh man! I feel like reading your post jinxed us!!!
We went out last night and we made Amya take a bit of Dan's rice...probably should have tasted it first...which was apparently spicey. It came right back up along with everything else she'd eaten in the 6 six hours previous! The first thing out of my mouth was, "Crap! I can't believe this is happening! I just read about this kind of thing!" We left a big tip! ...........c.
